Stephanie Ramin

Hello!  ¡Hola! 안녕하세요! Γεια σου! 

 

My name is Stephanie, and I am currently a Master's Candidate in International Education Management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS).  I have craved adventure and yearned to travel to faraway lands since I was young.  I had my first study abroad experience when I was in high school - I participated in a 2-week trip to Spain with a group of Spanish-studying peers where we had educational travel around the country for one week, and had a home-stay experience the second week.  It was that experience that really fueled my passion to pursue study abroad as un undergraduate.

During my undergraduate studies at Bethel University, I participated in two study abroad programs: I spent a semester in the beautiful country of Cyprus, and participated in a J-term faculty-led program to four European countries to study the history of Psychology in Europe.  Upon graduation, I decided to pack up my bags yet again to move to South Korea (because I clearly couldn't get enough!). I spent a year and a half living and teaching English to adult learners in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea.

It was a culmination of my adventures learning, living, and traveling abroad that ultimately brought me to MIIS.  I want to work in International Education so that I can help others experience what I was able to experience in my opportunities abroad: to learn about new cultures first-hand, see the importance of intercultural communication and in being a global citizen, and to experience personal transformation, just as I had as I grew and learned in these different seasons of life. My greatest desire is to have a career that is involved in helping others create meaningful intercultural connections through international opportunities, Building Bridges between cultures and uniting people across borders.
